AKH IKHU

„Vampyr“

AKH IKHU is a new collaboration between Sicker Man and pistole.

It is all about a musical dialog between two experimental and innovative artists.
Sicker Man main instrument is the electric cello and pistole has specialized on the electro-acoustic treatment of his drums and percussions. Aside from this both are involving synthesizers and analog effects into their process. Both have been working for theatre and film for a long time now. This is where they came up with the idea of adding a visual aspect their concerts. May it be films or video effects, the main goal is to create a multisensoric experience for the audience.

With Vampyr, Danish filmmaker Carl Theodor Dreyer channeled his genius for creating mesmerizing atmosphere and austere, unsettling imagery into the horror genre. The result—a chilling film about a student of the occult who encounters supernatural haunts and local evildoers in a village outside of Paris—is nearly unclassifiable. A host of stunning camera and editing tricks and densely layered sounds create a mood of dreamlike terror. With its roiling fogs, ominous scythes, and foreboding echoes, Vampyr is one of cinema’s great nightmares.

Akh Ikhu is electric cello, live drums and a ton of effects. Drone, psychodelic, kraut and ambient influences, all combined in an energetic live improv concept.

Sicker Man’s main instrument and focal point of his artistic creation is the electric cello, which he processes and modulates to transfer his artistic visions into reality. Since 2004 he has been composing music for film, theatre, radio plays, installations and performance art and releasing numerous albums of his various musical projects on his own label blankrecords. He has been collaborating with international artists and ensembles, as well as pursuing his own sonic explorations by experimenting with
alternative performance spaces and different approaches to performance practice
itself.
e.g. V/H/S/94 (US/2022), SEANCE (US/2021) OST via Lakeshore Records, Schauspielhaus Hamburg, Volkstheater Vienna, dOCUMENTA(13), Museo Reina Sofia Madrid, Imperial War Museum London, world premiere of Alvin Lucier’s “1000 years of resonant joy” with The Ever Present Orchestra and Oren Ambarchi at Ambient Festival Cologne 2021, Composition and Production of various albums with alternative hip-hop artist Serengeti (US/Anticon), etc.

pistole is a multi genre musician. Starting his musical career as a drummer, after the first school band, in a Benny Goodman Trio style group at the age of fifteen where he's had his his first international appearance at the Vilunda Hot Jazz Festival in Stockholm, announced as the young Gene Krupa. Via various bands and styles he was touring quite a bit with his band Testsieger, being part of the new elektro punk scene from 2002 on. A longer stay in Chicago and friendships in the local underground scene started his love for syntheziser and got him deeper into dance music. As pistole he now frequently tours the US, Europe and Israel.
His bread and butter job since 2004 is composing music mainly for theatre but also dance, performances, film and television. Through this kind of work searching for acoustic sounds and manipulate them with electronics became one of his favorites.
